Ekrem İmamoğlu's new party statement: 'If the convention is blocked...'

CHP's presidential candidate and Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently detained in Silivri Prison, made comprehensive assessments regarding the political developments on Turkey's agenda in an interview with Ahmet Ayva from İlke TV. Addressing many issues ranging from judicial processes to the debates on absolute nullity within the CHP, the convention process, and the "Terror-Free Turkey" initiative, İmamoğlu used striking expressions.

"THE COUP THAT BEGAN ON MARCH 19 IS STILL CONTINUING"

Arguing that the judicial processes conducted against him and the developments targeting the CHP are parts of the same political operation, İmamoğlu claimed that the process targets not only himself but all of Turkey.

İmamoğlu stated the following:

"There is a wretched structure within politics that is trying to hold the entire country hostage through my imprisonment and what is being done to the CHP, which is eager for a regime change and has already started playing musical chairs with each other for the 'post-Erdoğan' era."

Referring to the new judicial decree published by the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK), İmamoğlu noted that the duty locations of many judges and prosecutors have been changed, evaluating these events as a "continuation of the coup that began on March 19."

LISTED HIS ALLEGATIONS REGARDING JUDICIAL PROCESSES

İmamoğlu claimed that the judges serving in the judicial processes regarding the cases filed against him have been replaced.

Claiming that there have been changes in duty in many files, from the judge who issued the conviction in the 'Fool Case' to the diploma case and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality indictment, İmamoğlu argued that with the latest decree, the judiciary is being shaped according to a political agenda.

İmamoğlu also called out to members of the judiciary, saying:

"Those who do not speak out against those who create such a brutal political judicial order, where and how will they position themselves?"

"INTERNAL MALEVOLENT TRUSTEE"

Speaking about the absolute nullity debates within the CHP and the process of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's return to the chairmanship, İmamoğlu used harsh expressions for Kılıçdaroğlu.

"I don't know what the internal malevolent trustee is thinking, and I'm not interested. I would advise our nation not to take this person seriously so that their peace is not disturbed. Because Turkey has much more important, much more serious issues than him."

İmamoğlu argued that the CHP is being pulled away from the nation's agenda, stating that the party is being kept busy with internal debates instead of the problems of society.

"THERE IS A WRETCHED STRUCTURE PLAYING MUSICAL CHAIRS FOR THE POST-ERDOĞAN ERA"

Evaluating the political power and the developments, İmamoğlu claimed that the processes targeting the CHP are related to Turkey's future.

"There is a wretched structure within politics that is trying to hold the entire country hostage through my imprisonment and what is being done to the CHP, which is eager for a regime change and has already started playing musical chairs with each other for the 'post-Erdoğan' era."

"IF THE CONVENTION IS BLOCKED, WE ARE READY"

Touching upon the convention debates in the CHP, İmamoğlu stated that Özgür Özel was elected chairman by the will of the party's delegates.

Arguing that the same result would emerge if the convention were held again, İmamoğlu said:

"Now nearly a thousand of our delegates have signed for a convention. We are still striving for our convention to take place. However, if the convention, which is the demand of CHP members, is forcibly blocked, we are ready politically, spiritually, and physically for the path that will not only slow down the nation's march but accelerate it. I want it to be known that we will not allow another election to be gifted to this government."

İmamoğlu also claimed that the CHP Headquarters was entered with police escort, alleging that those who could not get support from the party's delegates are running away from the convention.

"NOT JUST THE CHP, MULTI-PARTY POLITICS IS IN DANGER"

Stating that the developments in Turkey do not only concern the CHP, İmamoğlu argued that there is also a risk in terms of democracy and the Republic.

"It is no longer just the CHP that is in danger in Turkey, but multi-party politics and the Republic. Democracy and justice have been trampled upon."

"TERROR-FREE AND DEMOCRATIC TURKEY" PROPOSAL

İmamoğlu also shared his views on the process referred to in the public as "Terror-Free Turkey."

Stating that addressing the process solely from a security perspective would not be sufficient, İmamoğlu emphasized democratization.

"For this reason, we proposed that this process, referred to as 'Terror-Free Turkey,' be expanded to 'Terror-Free and Democratic Turkey'."

Arguing that the government is conducting the process within a narrow framework in line with its own political interests, İmamoğlu claimed that no steps are being taken towards democratization and the rule of law.

"ERDOĞAN HAS TIED THE ENTIRE PROCESS TO HIS OWN CALENDAR"

At the end of his interview, touching upon regional developments and the political process, İmamoğlu claimed that the government is not taking steps to strengthen social consensus.

"Erdoğan continues on his way with the entire process tied to his own political calendar."
