Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted to the decision made regarding Cem Aydın. Drawing attention to the danger of the politicization of the judiciary, İmamoğlu sent a message to Erdoğan, saying, 'There is no place in the modern state understanding for a government that considers itself the sole representative of the national will.'

There is no place in the modern state understanding for a government that considers itself the sole representative of the national will. The effort to turn the judiciary into a mechanism of one person or one party has unfortunately reached its goal.

They caused great damage to the judiciary together with the parallel structure they once asked, 'What did they want that we didn't give?' Today, an independent judiciary is struggling for its life.

The events that took place after the 2019 local elections are incidents that show the government has brought the judiciary under its domination for political purposes. And what happened that day continues to increase today.''
