December 10, World Human Rights Day, will be celebrated under the hosting of the Social Democracy Association, emphasizing commitment to human rights and the importance of struggles in this field. At the event to be held on December 9 at the Çankaya Municipality Contemporary Arts Center, Kerem Altıparmak will deliver a presentation titled "The Rule of Law for Human Rights."

In the statement made by the association, it was stated that the 2025 Human Rights Honor Award would be presented to İmamoğlu due to his "determined stance in the struggle for human rights, democracy, and the rule of law, the resistance he has shown against pressures on the will of the people, and his commitment to social democratic values."

The statement from the association said, "We appreciate his determination against all kinds of pressure on the will of the people, the honorable struggle he has waged against lawlessness, and his services that do not compromise on fundamental human rights values with a social democratic and communal municipalism approach; for these reasons, we are greatly honored to present the 2025 Human Rights Honor Award to Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu. Long live democracy, long live the rule of law."

SDD Chairman Sami Doğan said the following regarding the matter:

"We will meet to support all our mayors, council members, and bureaucrats who were detained as political prisoners during the March 19 coup process and are paying a price, and to honor a leader who does not bow to pressure. Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu is a leader who has been elected twice and even three times by the will of the people, but has stood tall against attempts to usurp this will. The legal processes and sentences imposed on him are an intervention not only against one person, but against the democratic choice of millions of citizens. We believe that human rights are in the hands of the law, not power."
