Open call from Ekrem İmamoğlu to Erdoğan: 'Take steps for the good of the nation'

Ekrem İmamoğlu, the presidential candidate of the Republican People's Party (CHP) who is currently being held in Silivri Prison, has added a new statement to his public communications. In a written declaration released via social media, İmamoğlu's message was issued with a direct reference to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In his message, İmamoğlu underscored the need for democratic progress in the country and the ideal of a Turkey free from terrorism, alleging that the current administration has failed to take steps toward a solution.

İmamoğlu emphasized that ensuring peace and tranquility in the country, in line with his election promises, is possible not only through his own election but through an inclusive will. In his statement, he asserted that the approach of "If you elect me, I will advance the process" is unsustainable, and reiterated his call for Erdoğan to fulfill his duty.

The Republican People's Party has set out on this path with its experience spanning over a century, with state wisdom, and with the pure conscience of our nation. The will that our nation engraved into its essence by saying “Peace at home, peace in the world” as Atatürk did, has always been our guide. Establishing a peace that draws its strength from the nation and continues on its path with the will of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey is the duty of everyone who loves and wants to protect this heavenly homeland! Everyone should look closely at who in the world stands against a Terror-Free and Democratic Turkey.

Those who rub their hands together over the blood of this nation's children, those who stand against Turkey's dream of living in security, peace, and tranquility, existed before the proclamation of the Republic, they still exist, both inside and outside.
