Ekrem İmamoğlu's response to Murat Kurum on the "87 percent" claim: 'We had calculated 2-3 points less'
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor and CHP's candidate for the new term, Ekrem İmamoğlu, criticized the 'waste' order of the previous IMM administration. Regarding the funds transferred to foundations and associations in the past, İmamoğlu said, "We cut off the dirty hose." Ekrem İmamoğlu also responded to AKP's IMM candidate Murat Kurum regarding his campaign promises.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu made statements during the introduction of his "Fair Istanbul" project.
İmamoğlu stated the following:
"In 2019, they resorted to threats to protect this corrupt order. You remember; they said, 'If İmamoğlu comes, he will cut social aid.' We only cut one thing; we cut off the dirty hose that was transferring money to foundations and organizations close to them."
While explaining the projects to be implemented, İmamoğlu also recalled the words of President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who targeted IMM projects by asking, "Whose money are you giving to whom?", and replied, "We continue to give the nation's money to the nation."
Noting that they have prepared major projects in 10 areas for the new term, İmamoğlu announced that these projects will be implemented in many fields such as education, economy, and social support.
After presenting his projects in 10 areas, İmamoğlu responded to remarks made by AKP's IMM candidate Murat Kurum during a speech, in which Kurum claimed that the IMM had fulfilled 87 percent of its promises.
Stating that his promises were copied, İmamoğlu said, "I asked my colleagues, we had calculated it 2-3 points lower."
İmamoğlu then added that they re-examined the figures and that Kurum's calculation was correct.
