Election plan leaked from behind the scenes: Button pressed for Erdoğan's re-nomination in AKP

The statement by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that "I have no concern about being a candidate again" has sparked a new wave of debate in the political arena.

While MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli stated, "It is an indisputable historical and life fact that the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish nation are in great need of Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has drawn the roadmap for the new century," it has been learned that the AKP has accelerated its preparations for Erdoğan's re-nomination.

According to a report by the pro-government Türkiye Gazetesi, AKP officials believe that obtaining an election decision from Parliament is a more suitable path for Erdoğan to be a candidate for a third time than a constitutional amendment. It is also emphasized that Erdoğan's statements do not mean he will not be a candidate.

AKP sources indicate that the candidacy debates could be postponed until 2027. In this process, the support of the DEM Party for an election decision to be taken in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) is also seen as an important factor.

The AKP, drawing attention to the new opening process they call a 'Terror-Free Turkey,' believes it could receive support from the DEM Party.
