Erdoğan and Bahçeli meet for the first time following 'rift in People's Alliance' claims

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, was commemorated with a ceremony at Anıtkabir on the 87th anniversary of his passing. The ceremony was attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, and numerous state officials. Erdoğan laid a wreath at Atatürk's mausoleum, and following a moment of silence, the National Anthem was played.

Devlet Bahçeli's absence from the Anıtkabir ceremony and the reception on October 29 had led to claims in the public sphere of a "rift in the People's Alliance." Bahçeli responded to these claims during his party's group meeting, emphasizing that there was no disagreement between the MHP and the People's Alliance. Bahçeli stated that his absence from Anıtkabir was due to personal circumstances.

SUPPORT FROM ERDOĞAN FOR BAHÇELİ

President Erdoğan, in a statement made upon his return from Azerbaijan, expressed that there was no issue between him and Bahçeli. Erdoğan said, "We will be in contact with Bahçeli as soon as we return to Ankara; there is no problem between us."
