Erdoğan and Lula hold phone call: 'Israel's attacks...'

According to a statement from the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, the meeting addressed bilateral relations between Turkey and Brazil, as well as global and regional issues.

During the call, President Erdoğan stated that Brazil's stance against the brutality perpetrated by Israel in Palestinian territories is commendable, and expressed that efforts must be increased to establish a permanent ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid to the region.

Drawing attention to the fact that Israel continues to escalate its attacks and massacres despite Hamas accepting a ceasefire, President Erdoğan emphasized that it is important to support initiatives regarding the recognition of the State of Palestine at this juncture.

CALL FOR 'NEGOTIATION'

President Erdoğan stated that Turkey is closely following the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia, and that it encourages the parties to return to negotiations and work toward establishing a just peace based on rights and law.

During the meeting, Erdoğan conveyed his condolences and sorrow to da Silva for the loss of life caused by the heavy rains, floods, and landslides in Brazil, noting that Turkey stands with the people of Brazil.
