Erdoğan determines roadmap following election defeat! 'In the coming period...'

The March 31 Local Elections are now behind us. According to unofficial results, the CHP has become the leading party across Turkey with 37.77 percent of the vote, while the AKP has lost an election for the first time in 22 years.

While the results have caused a shock effect within the ruling camp, AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has determined his roadmap following the defeat.

According to a report in Sabah, known for its proximity to the government; Erdoğan made assessments regarding the March 31 elections during meetings with his party's authorized boards and staff, and explained what the AKP and the government will do in the coming period.

Stating, "The results have naturally saddened us all," Erdoğan continued as follows:

"Losing is also a part of life. We are people of faith. We will say, 'There is a blessing in this too.' In the coming period, we will hold ourselves accountable and identify our shortcomings and strengths. We have a sufficient period ahead of us until the next elections. We must make good use of this period. We will manage this process very well and win the hearts of the nation once again."

While giving instructions for a detailed analysis to be conducted regarding the low turnout in the elections and the votes cast, Erdoğan said, "We will analyze our citizens who turned their backs on the ballot box well. We will understand well why they displayed such an attitude and we will do what is necessary."

Reminding that Turkey has 4 years ahead without elections, Erdoğan gave the message, "While conducting the election analysis, we will now focus on the economy. In this regard, we will take the possible steps, especially for those with low and fixed incomes."

Regarding retirees and low-income citizens, Erdoğan said, "A grievance has emerged. We will have efforts to resolve these grievances. Necessary steps within the scope of the economic program and budget will be taken in due time."
