Erdoğan flies to Baku for Victory Day
President Erdoğan has flown to Baku for a visit on the occasion of the November 8 Victory Day. Erdoğan will hold meetings there with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has paid an official visit to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, for the November 8 Victory Day. Erdoğan traveled to Azerbaijan on the "TC-TUR" aircraft, and an official welcoming ceremony was held at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku.
HIGH-LEVEL WELCOME
President Erdoğan was welcomed by First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyyubov, Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Ankara Reşad Memmedov, and Turkey's Ambassador to Baku Birol Akgün.
ACCOMPANIED BY DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN OFFICIALS
President Erdoğan was accompanied during the visit by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Head of the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) İbrahim Kalın, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, President of Defense Industries Haluk Görgün, and Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç.
BILATERAL AND REGIONAL MEETINGS PLANNED
As part of his contacts in Azerbaijan, Erdoğan is expected to hold meetings with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The meetings are planned to focus on bilateral relations as well as regional and global developments. Following this visit, President Erdoğan is expected to reiterate his support for Azerbaijan and take new steps toward strengthening regional cooperation.
