Erdoğan gives the order: Flash decision from AKP following election defeat

Turkey has left the March 31 Local Elections behind.

While the CHP became the leading party with 37.77 percent of the vote, the results created a shock effect within the ruling AKP.

As the AKP lost an election for the first time in 22 years, the instructions given by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to his party on election night have emerged.

An election analysis presentation was made at the Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting chaired by Erdoğan.

According to Haber Global, the 59-page presentation detailed the provinces and districts where the AKP experienced a loss of votes, as well as the regions where it increased its vote share. The presentation also compared the 2019 and 2024 elections.

The latest situation regarding metropolitan municipalities, 51 provinces, districts, and municipal council memberships was discussed.

A TEAM WILL BE ESTABLISHED

Warning his staff against complacency, Erdoğan emphasized that reducing the results to a single cause would be an oversimplification. He requested the formation of a team, stating, "We will work, we will analyze, we will look at ourselves, including me, to see where we went wrong."

4 SEPARATE COMMISSIONS

Following this, it was decided to establish 4 separate commissions, the framework of which was outlined by Erdoğan, to evaluate the election results. The commissions will conduct work under the headings of political, economic, sociological, and campaign issues.

In the commissions, which will include deputy chairmen, academics, and relevant ministers, the March 31 Elections will be examined in detail across many parameters, including the organization, candidates, current party program, local governments, the economy, and the party's general policy and operations.
