Erdoğan holds phone call with Macron
The Presidency's Directorate of Communications announced that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to a statement from the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, Erdoğan and Macron discussed Turkey-France bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues.
President Erdoğan stated that it would be beneficial to further advance relations between the two countries by evaluating cooperation opportunities in every field, especially in the defense industry. Erdoğan expressed that the process initiated by the attacks on Iran has negatively affected the entire world, and that the diplomatic efforts supported by Turkey in coordination with the relevant countries have played an important role in the ceasefire process.
During the call, President Erdoğan pointed to the attacks on Lebanon and stated that no opportunity should be given to initiatives that could sabotage the ceasefire process, and that Turkey would continue to provide all possible contributions to this process. Noting that it is important to initiate the second phase of the peace plan in Gaza, Erdoğan expressed that the momentum gained in this regard should not be lost.
During the meeting, the leaders also comprehensively discussed ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz based on international law, developments in Syria, supporting the peace process in the Caucasus, and the search for lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia, as well as the revitalization of negotiations.
