Erdoğan made statements at a ceremony organized by the Ilim Yayma Society.

"I am very pleased to be with you following our proposal at the Ilim Yayma Awards, or rather the awards ceremony in 2019. I sincerely congratulate our scholars to whom we presented the third of our awards, which are held every two years. This year, we are presenting a special award to our professor, Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar. We send our gratitude to Prof. Aziz Sancar for his contributions to broadening the horizons of our youth.

Our nation, which was crushed under bans and oppression during the single-party fascism era, practically found itself again with the Democrat Party government. Our Ilim Yayma Society is one of the fruits of this awakening. This brother of yours is also a fruit of Ilim Yayma. Although the society's work was hindered for a time following the coup periods, its activities accelerated again when conditions improved. We have left behind the 72nd anniversary of our society, which was founded to cultivate qualified human resources. Our society has made vital contributions to the establishment and preservation of Imam Hatip schools, which are among our country's most important spiritual resources. I say may God be pleased with everyone who contributed. May the Lord also reward our elders who have passed into eternity with His paradise.

It is a fact that being well-trained in one field makes it easier to grasp knowledge in other fields and to constantly improve oneself. Our elders, especially students and academics coming from technical fields, established a social sciences institute within the National Turkish Student Union to close their gaps in the social field. Our professor Sabahattin Zaim used to state that the true rank of science begins after the academic ranks are finished. A scientist who is not an authority in their field, who does not write beautiful works, and who does not raise good successors is at a loss in this world because their life will have been wasted, and in the other world because their book of deeds cannot remain open by having their works read and their path followed after their death.

"DAYS WILL COME WHEN WE WILL BE PROUD OF OUR SCIENTISTS"

According to our professor Sabahattin Zaim, what makes science, which is a relative and temporary pursuit, valuable is that it constantly improves itself by being corrected. Stating that the 80 most important books in their field engrave the others, our professor says that the essential thing is to benefit from them without cutting off the connection with the Creator. A scientist who knows the fact that there is no word left unsaid in the universe can never refrain from producing original works and raising students who will follow them. In this respect, our country is unfortunately going through a dry period. The number of our original works that have the potential to open new paths in their field is quite low. Translated works are of course important; but it is not possible for us to reach our goals unless these are crowned with original works.

Our late professor Ayhan Songar used to say that people speak with concepts, concepts develop with words, and ideas cannot be produced when concepts are corrupted. We are experiencing a drought of ideas because we have lost our own concepts and cannot produce new ones. Whenever our scientists become influential on a global scale with the work they do and the works they produce, then we will find the opportunity to speak and think with our own concepts. One day, God willing, the days will come when we will be proud of the scientists who will surely take the civilization we advocate to the highest level. I accept today's awards ceremony as a sign of this quest.

A nation's ability to maintain its existence and look to its future with confidence depends on the equipment of the generations it raises. In many parts of the world, especially in Western countries, the most important reason for the anxiety of societies is seeing that new generations are practically slipping through their fingers. We must also protect our own children against the insidious and destructive effects of new communication channels. With the widespread use of foreign social media platforms, we see moral erosion and degeneration. We see that perverse trends that destroy our national unity are beginning to permeate our society.

For this, we first need to look at how we got here, again with inspiration from our professor Sabahattin Zaim. The automobile brought people out into the street. Television locked people in their homes. The internet imprisoned people in the digital world. There are two important elements that keep societies standing. The first is raising people. The second is production. A person is raised in the family. Production is done in the economic enterprise. If a good person is raised in the family, then halal sustenance is produced in the enterprise. Halal sustenance brings prosperity to people. Societies that do not seek happiness in their families and prosperity in their enterprises are ultimately doomed to collapse and disappear.

"TURKEY IS NOW MUCH FREER"

A structure that raises individuals who are slaves to their own desires and ambitions instead of virtuous people does not produce halal sustenance and the prosperity it brings. In the past, children were taught the 'ilmihal'; that is, the rules that remind us how to behave in life.

Because the social and institutional structure that provided this moral education was destroyed with World War I, it remained, so to speak, without a compass for a long time.

The entire world, excluding the colonial imperialists, was subjected to a similar drift. Although many independent states emerged in the Islamic world after World War II, we know that these remained on paper and that the situation was not like that at all in reality.

Think of Palestine in 1947 and think of Palestine now. From where to where? How did they exploit it? World Zionism, just as they determined what happened in Palestine, this condemnation, these borders, they are now striving to take this even further.

The reality that the coups in our country point to their own administrators with the phrase 'Our boys succeeded' is exactly this. We stopped the shameless assault, the latest examples of which were the Gezi protests in terms of social chaos and the July 15 coup attempt in terms of armed uprising, by shielding our chests, thank God. We paid very high prices. We succeeded in pulling our country out of the quagmire it has been struggling in for three-quarters of a century.

Turkey is now much freer with its democracy, security, economy, defense, and diplomacy, and can look to its future with much more confidence. As we have grown stronger politically, militarily, and economically, the self-confidence of our friends and brothers who have pinned their hopes on us has also increased. There is a positive, courageous atmosphere in the Islamic world and the Turkic world compared to the past. The liberation of Karabakh from occupation has further strengthened this atmosphere.

"THE WORLD IS WAITING READY FOR ZIONISM"

Do not worry, with God's permission, the days when we will prevent the massacre in Gaza, which the cruel state of Israel continues with the support of Western states, are near. In order to maintain this momentum we have achieved, we are faced with the necessity of putting the issue of raising our children in accordance with our civilization, history, and culture at the very top of our priorities. The way to do this is through education, by nationalizing our children's sources of material and spiritual nourishment. The duty of the state is to play a role in paving the way for this process and facilitating it.

Many structures fed by imperialists are waiting ready to fill every void you leave, the world is waiting ready for Zionism. We cannot give them this opportunity. May the Lord be our helper and supporter. With these feelings, I congratulate our scientists to whom we presented their awards. I greet you with love and respect, stay healthy."
