Erdoğan: March 31 is not an end for us, but a turning point

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a statement regarding the March 31 local election results.

Erdoğan's statements:

Dear residents of Ankara, my precious fellow travelers, my dear young brothers and sisters, I greet you with my most heartfelt feelings. I greet every member of the 85 million from the AKP Headquarters. I praise my Lord for giving me loyal fellow travelers and comrades in the cause like you.

We have completed the March 31 Local Administration Elections with a maturity befitting our democracy. Apart from isolated incidents, no regrettable events occurred. Thanks to the common sense of our citizens, Turkish democracy has once again proven its maturity.

As you know, elections are the most critical days of democracies. The will of the nation manifests at the ballot box. The nation speaks its word through the ballot box. The nation conveys its message to the politician at the ballot box.

The nation expresses its warning and appreciation through the ballot box. The fact that the nation's decision manifests at the ballot box without facing any pressure or imposition is a great gain in itself for our democracy.

March 31 is not an end for us, but actually a turning point.

In the March 31 elections, the Turkish nation once again delivered its messages to politicians at the ballot box.

Regardless of the results, the winner of this election is primarily our democracy and the national will. Everyone who added strength to the power of the ballot box, along with those who voted for the AKP and the People's Alliance, has won.

I sincerely thank all my citizens who reflected their will at the ballot box.

I wish the election results to be auspicious for our country. The March 31 elections were our 18th ballot box test we have entered in the last 22 years.

We have always succeeded. We have come this far by succeeding. We will continue on our path by succeeding from now on as well.

"THERE IS A SILVER LINING IN EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS"

Unfortunately, we did not achieve the result we wanted in the local election test. As the AKP and the People's Alliance, we prepared intensively for this election exam as well. In the last 2 months, I personally visited 52 different cities. I held rallies there. I integrated with my people. The result turned out this way. There is a silver lining in everything that happens. That is what our elders say.

Today, I congratulate the metropolitan mayors, provincial, district, and town mayors elected by our nation one by one.
