Erdoğan responds to Özgür Özel's apology demand

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan responded to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's call for an apology regarding operations targeting artists with remarks made in Rize. Özel had demanded an apology from the Government of the Republic of Turkey. In response to this demand, Erdoğan stated that Özel himself owes an apology to the government and the nation.

"DOESN'T ÖZEL OWE AN APOLOGY?"

In his remarks regarding Özgür Özel's call for an apology, Erdoğan said, "Doesn't Mr. Özel owe an apology to the state officials who have been working day and night for weeks to ensure a ceasefire? Doesn't he owe an apology to our nation for the unfounded claims he has recklessly thrown around?"

WHAT DID ÖZEL SAY?

In his speech, Özel had criticized the government with the following words:

"You send 5 thousand police officers to the father's house founded by Atatürk and have them spray gas from a distance of one inch. That incompetent, that incapable, that unqualified person. If Tayyip Erdoğan can take responsibility, let him come out and apologize to these artists and this nation. If they are taking 32-year-old Güneş to a place for blood and urine tests instead of where she should be breastfeeding her child, let them come out and apologize to this nation."
