Erdoğan says 'We are the leading party', AKP figure disagrees
The harshest response to President Erdoğan's claim that "the AK Party is still the leading party" came from former party deputy Şamil Tayyar. Stating that trust in the government has fallen by 45 percent since July 15, Tayyar said, "We have dropped to the 30 percent range; the people are not responsible for this trend."
President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reacted to the CHP's recent claims of "leading in the polls" during his remarks on the plane returning from Azerbaijan. Erdoğan stated, "There is no such thing as the CHP being the leading party. No matter how many polls they conduct, we conduct them too. Currently, the AK Party is the leading party in Turkey."
"WE MUST SEE THE REALITIES"
Former AK Party deputy Şamil Tayyar responded to Erdoğan's statements in a post on the social media platform X. Tayyar stated that trust in the government reached its peak after July 15, but that this trust has largely eroded over the past 9 years.
Şamil Tayyar included the following statements in his post:
"TRUST IN THE GOVERNMENT ROSE TO 75 PERCENT"
"That night.
The trust rate in the government rose to 75 percent, and the nation provided indescribable support.
The presidential government system was born in that atmosphere.
Now.
"IT HAS DROPPED TO THE 30 PERCENT RANGE"
The trust rate in the AK Party has dropped to the 30 percent range.
We have reached a point where we manage the presidency, which we once won alone, with second and third parties.
We lost Istanbul and Ankara.
If we do not doubt the wisdom of the noble nation that has kept the AK Party in power for 23 years, it means something is not going right.
I hope the 9th anniversary of July 15 will not be drowned in rhetoric and will serve as an opportunity for reflection without producing excuses.
God willing."
