Erdoğan spoke after the cabinet meeting: 'Netanyahu intends to continue his policy of massacre'
Following the Presidential Cabinet meeting at Beştepe, President Erdoğan is making statements regarding Instagram, Middle East tensions, the fight against terrorism, and economic developments.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan chaired the Presidential Cabinet meeting at Beştepe, which has now concluded. Following the meeting, which lasted approximately 3 hours, Erdoğan is making statements.
The meeting addressed key agenda items such as Instagram, the rising tension in the Middle East, the fight against terrorism, and economic developments. Here are the highlights from Erdoğan's statements:
"Over the last 22 years, we have worked hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder, and turned many dreams into reality together. We have brought our country to a level that is admired by others in many areas, especially in the defense industry. We will achieve much more. As long as you strive, we will never leave you alone. We will continue to support our business world with new packages in the coming periods.
Ten years ago, we promised to be a president who is always on the move. We visit and inspect our ongoing projects in our provinces on-site, and we give the necessary instructions to our fellow ministers to resolve any shortcomings. We also share the joy of inaugurating these works with our nation.
In Rize, we handed over the keys to the homes and shops of our fellow citizens affected by the disaster. I believe that we will not allow unplanned construction in Ayder and that we will protect Ayder from all kinds of ugliness.
Israel's attacks on Gaza have left their 10th month behind. With the martyrdom of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh, a new threshold has been crossed in the Gaza crisis. The Netanyahu government's lawless and rule-ignoring aggressive attitude is exposing our region to terrible attacks. Western actors, especially America, have become prisoners of Israel and a handful of fanatic Zionists.
Despite Hamas's constructive attitude, the Netanyahu administration has shown that it intends to continue its policy of massacre. As Turkey, we are following the developments moment by moment. We are doing our best to put an end to this barbarism. We had announced our decision to intervene in the genocide case. We are taking our concrete step on Wednesday. Our delegation will submit it to the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
It is understood from the insolent statements made every other day how much our determined stance creates discomfort in the Netanyahu government. I would like to say this to those who aspire to be 'keyboard clowns' instead of statesmen; we will continue to disturb the social media charlatans who cast aspersions on our flag and our independence.
WE BROKE A RECORD
We achieved the highest July exports of all time. With a total of 261.5 billion dollars and a 3.4 percent increase compared to the previous year, we once again broke a record in the history of the Republic.
Anatolia is an open-air museum of unparalleled beauty. For many years, we could not sufficiently benefit from these opportunities. Lack of infrastructure and the scourge of terrorism were obstacles. As the shadow of terrorism lifts from our eastern and southeastern provinces, these places have also begun to take their rightful place.
Chasing quick gains with greed will cause irreparable wounds to our tourism sector in the medium and long term. Those who engage in profiteering cause the greatest harm to our nation, to Turkey's reputation, and to millions of our citizens who earn their bread from this sector. Power and trust are values that are hard to earn and easily lost.
The decline in inflation that began as of June became slightly more pronounced in July. Annual inflation has fallen by 13.7 points from its highest level. This trend will continue to accelerate in the coming months. By the end of the year, we will definitely bring inflation down to rates consistent with our targets. Our goal is to ensure permanent prosperity growth by lowering inflation.
The stormy course that has continued in the global economy for the last 4 years is challenging all of us, including developed countries. What happened in the capital markets this morning showed the atmosphere full of uncertainties in which our government operates, but let no one be worried. Turkey continues on its path in safe and capable hands. Hopefully, at the end of this path, it will reach its intended destination. The Turkish economy possesses this power, potential, and the solid foundation it has built as a result of 22 years of effort in abundance. For this, we will be a little more patient and act with resilience. We will not give credit to the opposition's vague rhetoric that reeks of populism and will bring more harm than good to the country. They love to talk and boast in the squares, but when it comes to keeping promises, they are nowhere to be found.
No good will come to the country or our cities from a mentality that does not even pay its accumulated debts to the Social Security Institution (SGK), and furthermore, seeks to escape this debt with absurd excuses. I expect my citizens not to give credit to the pessimistic, gloomy statements of the opposition aimed at breaking morale, and to continue with our government, which is full of 22 years of historical successes.
FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT
I would also like to state this point here: as a state, we are doing our part. In this sensitive period we are going through, we stand by our citizens in need to lighten their burden. We have provided cash support to our fellow citizens in need through the Turkey Family Support Program. We have provided a total of over 88.2 billion liras in support to our low-income families. We reviewed this issue again at our cabinet meeting. As a requirement of our social state identity, we are extending our support program, which we have been implementing for 2 years, until the end of 2024. I wish this decision we have taken to be auspicious for our nation, especially for my brothers and sisters who benefit from the Turkey Family Support Program.
In recent years, our country has turned into a place where the heart of global and regional diplomacy beats. We have achieved many important diplomatic victories. The latest example of this was experienced last week in the field of intelligence. With the mediation of the MIT (National Intelligence Organization), the largest prisoner exchange since World War II was carried out in Ankara as a result of extremely sensitive efforts. The exchange of 26 people was carried out in a way that will be an example to the whole world without encountering any hitches. Today, I would like to thank once again the unsung heroes of our MIT presidency, who have protected our state from many attacks and many betrayals for 97 years."
