Erdoğan takes a jab at CHP over Köksal: 'We have never closed our municipalities' doors to anyone'

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at a mass opening ceremony in Mamak, Ankara. He made a reference to CHP's Burcu Köksal's remarks targeting the DEM Party.

Erdoğan stated the following:

"We have never closed the doors of our municipality and public institutions to anyone."

CHP's Afyonkarahisar mayoral candidate Burcu Köksal had said in a speech, "When I am elected, the doors of the municipality will be open to every political party except the DEM Party."

"IF THERE IS A MISTAKE, WE LOOK AT OURSELVES"

President Erdoğan noted the following in his speech:

"Today, we are together for the mass opening of works, investments, and services completed in Mamak. I want to pay our debt of gratitude to Mamak. We held one of Turkey's most critical elections. Mamak gave me 49 percent of the vote. I thank all my brothers and sisters in Mamak. We were expecting a higher vote, which means we had shortcomings in conveying our messages. Every citizen of ours is the crown on our heads. If there is a deficiency, we look for it in ourselves; if there is a mistake, we look at ourselves.

"WE WILL TAKE THE POLITICS OF SERVICE TO THE TOP"

The opposition, on the other hand, does not even question or hold themselves accountable when they are defeated, let alone when they win. They find a scapegoat and continue on their way. They did the same in the May elections. They blamed the citizens and their candidates and cleared themselves. What happened to the 'Table of Six'? Where are the leaders? Could they enter Parliament? Who is left at the table? I hope Mamak will write an epic on March 31. Even though we won, we do not see the votes we received in this election as sufficient. On March 31, we will join hands with our brothers and sisters in Mamak and take the politics of service to the top.

"WE ALL REMEMBER THE OLD STATE OF MAMAK"

We all remember the old state of Mamak. Previously, shanties, scarcity, and poverty would come to mind. We ended this picture with our investments. We have made significant breakthroughs in every field for Mamak to get rid of its old appearance. Mamak is still among the places with high potential compared to some districts, as it no longer has room to grow. Mamak is gradually moving to the forefront in this race. Today, we are adding new links to this chain of works and services. We are putting 52 items of investment into your service. These projects include swimming pools, public libraries, indoor marketplaces, libraries, and youth centers. We are officially putting the services provided by our municipality and ministries into operation.

"DESPITE HUGE BUDGETS, THEY HAVE NO WORKS"

Is there such a thing as paving the roads from the airport all the way to here? Where have we come from and where are we now? They distributed promises generously but did not keep their words. Despite huge budgets, they have no works. Our medium-sized municipalities do better than what they call projects. Whatever has been done in Ankara, it is all what we have done. There is an incompetent administration that prides itself on not laying a single stone. In these elections, we went for a change of flag in Mamak. We nominated our brother Asım Balcı instead of our brother Murat Köse. I thank our brother Murat for his services. We will continue our partnership in other areas.

"WE DID NOT LOOK AT ANYONE'S ORIGIN OR SECT WHILE PROVIDING SERVICES"

Whoever engages in regionalism and separates people according to their ethnic origin does not want the peace of this nation. While providing services, we never looked at anyone's origin or sect. We never closed the doors of our municipalities and public institutions to anyone. We have never been of a racist or fascist mindset. Just like in the May 14-28 elections, there are those who try to turn political competition into political hostility in this election as well. Every citizen of ours, regardless of their origin, sect, idea, or political view, is the crown on our heads.

"THE CHP ADMINISTRATION IS COMPETING WITH ITS OWN BAD PAST"

As long as they are not involved in terrorism and violence and do not betray this nation, we have embraced everyone regardless of which party they vote for. The CHP administration, which is the current representative of the single-party mentality, is again competing with its own bad past in racism, discrimination, and separatism. When it comes to talk, they pontificate here and there, but they cannot stop themselves from discriminating against people based on their ethnic origin.

"WITHOUT FALLING FOR THE PROVOCATIONS OF THOSE WHO REALIZE THEY WILL LOSE..."

We are a nation that has experienced the events of Çorum and Maraş in the recent past. We are a nation that has experienced provocations in the Sivas events. Whoever does politics through sects does not want the good of this nation. As politicians, we will of course compete. We will express the issues we do not find right on behalf of our country, but while doing so, we will always be vigilant against those who try to sow discord among us. March 31 is an opportunity so that the problems of our city do not become a Gordian knot. Let's not waste this opportunity. Without falling for the provocations of those who realize they will lose, we will work very well for 11 days. Ankara must be saved from 'slowness'.
