Erdoğan’s Istanbul plan leaked from behind the scenes! ‘Against İmamoğlu…’

Turkey will head to the polls for local elections on March 31, 2024. While the doors to alliances have completely closed on the opposition front, the AKP aims to regain the metropolitan cities it lost in 2019, primarily Istanbul and Ankara.

CHP'S IMM CANDIDATE IS İMAMOĞLU

The CHP has nominated the incumbent mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu as its candidate for Istanbul in the local elections on March 31, 2024. It is eagerly awaited which name the AKP will nominate against İmamoğlu.

According to the behind-the-scenes report by Nuray Babacan from Gazete Pencere; AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has not yet announced which name he will field against Ekrem İmamoğlu for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, is looking for the person who "appears 1 percent ahead" in the polls he has commissioned. On the other hand, it is claimed that Erdoğan is hopeless regarding Ankara.

"No one can say anything definitive, especially regarding the Istanbul candidate.

Fatih Mayor Ergün Turan, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, and former Minister of Environment and Urbanization Murat Kurum are standing out.

An interesting piece of information is that Ali Yerlikaya's name is received positively within the family and is coming to the fore, and it is reported that some ministers and business people have intervened and spoken with the President for Murat Kurum.

The AKP leadership is hopeless about the race in Ankara. In the party, where the possibility of Mansur Yavaş winning the election is seen as certain, there is almost no competition regarding the candidacy. The possibility of Turgut Altınok or Veysel Tiryaki is being discussed, but it seems clear that neither of them has a chance..."
