Erkan Baş's reaction to the Court of Cassation: 'It is a clear coup attempt'

Workers' Party of Turkey Chairman Erkan Baş stated that his party's Central Executive Board (MYK) would be in an extraordinary meeting regarding the Court of Cassation, which did not recognize the Constitutional Court's decision, filing a criminal complaint against the members of the Constitutional Court.

Making statements on the X platform, Erkan Baş said, ''The decision of the 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation to 'not comply with the AYM decision,' despite the clear and explicit provision of the Constitution, is clearly an attempt to violate the Constitution.''

CALL FOR A 'JOINT STANCE' TO CITIZENS AND POLITICAL PARTIES

The statements of Erkan Baş, who referenced the Constitution, are as follows:

''The decision of the 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation to 'not comply with the AYM decision,' despite the clear and explicit provision of the Constitution, is clearly an attempt to violate the Constitution. For any authority to declare, 'We do not recognize the Constitution and the Constitutional Court,' furthermore to file a criminal complaint against AYM members due to a decision they made in accordance with the Constitution and laws, and as if that were not enough, to threaten the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) is a clear coup attempt! I call on all our citizens and all political parties to take a joint stance against this parallel judicial coup attempt. Our Central Executive Board will meet shortly in an extraordinary session to discuss this matter.''
