Expulsion decision from IYI Party following clothing-related post

ARREST AFTER CONTROVERSIAL POST

IYI Party Spokesperson Buğra Kavuncu used the following expressions in his statement regarding the matter:

A great rudeness that we cannot accept was committed against the lady who is the elected Mayor of Mihalgazi, as a great achievement of our Republic. We reacted very quickly, and the person who committed this indecency was referred to the disciplinary board with a request for immediate expulsion without hesitation or debate, and he was expelled from the party."

Kavuncu also denied the claims that Mehmet Emin Korkmaz was one of the founders of the IYI Party. He included the following assessments in his statement:

"Many parties have hundreds of thousands, millions of members. Our membership count is approximately 500 thousand. When such large structures are involved, those who use expressions that never align with the corporate identity can emerge, albeit rarely. It is not as if we have not encountered those who commit criminal offenses.

Our stance is clear. We showed this clear stance in this incident as well, and we reacted very quickly to this rudeness. However, while doing so, it is necessary to make some reminders to those who pursue political gain through an ignorant individual."

In the continuation of his statement, Kavuncu also shared with the public that IYI Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu will visit Mihalgazi Mayor Zeynep Güneş on February 12.
