Bureaucrats receiving multiple salaries remain a constant topic on Turkey's agenda.

Most recently, İzmir's CHP Karaburun Mayor İlkay Girgin Erdoğan appointed herself as the manager of a municipal company via a council decision.

'YOU ARE FULL OF THIS EVERYWHERE'

Following the emergence of names in the CHP receiving multiple salaries, journalist Fatih Altaylı made the following assessment:

"There have been a few incidents in the CHP that shouldn't happen, but the AKP is the inventor of this practice. Those receiving salaries from 10 different places, those filling municipalities with this person and that person... Those receiving tenders... Those receiving salaries from 3-5 different companies... You are full of this everywhere."

WHAT HAPPENED?

A motion submitted by the Felicity Party (Saadet Partisi) in 2023 to prioritize an investigation into public officials receiving multiple salaries was rejected by AKP and MHP deputies in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly.
