Fatih Altaylı slams the business world: 'Erdoğan treats them as they deserve'

Journalist Fatih Altaylı, who has been held at Marmara (Silivri) Prison for 5 months, harshly criticized the lack of reaction from the business world during his detention. Speaking to T24 columnist Yalçın Doğan from prison, Altaylı said, "The injustice is clearly evident. Yet, not a single person from the business world has reacted to it."

"NOT THE TURKISH BOURGEOISIE, BUT SMALL-TOWN SHOPKEEPERS"

Fatih Altaylı stated that everyone sees his detention as an injustice, yet the business world remains silent, adding, "They talk about the Turkish bourgeoisie and so on, but they are not bourgeois. They are all small-town shopkeepers with a copper coating. They do not represent society; the real upper class alongside them is the remaining majority of the people."

Altaylı also criticized the business world for not advertising on opposition channels and only supporting pro-government channels to curry favor with the administration. Stating that Erdoğan knows the spirit of the business world well, Altaylı remarked, "Tayyip Erdoğan has read their spirit and treats them as they deserve."

"NO ONE SPEAKS OUT AGAINST THE INJUSTICE"

Altaylı noted that the injustice in his imprisonment has become even more apparent to him, yet the business world still does not speak out. He further added, "The audience I address includes both AKP and MHP supporters. They have all been accused in the same way but have not received sentences. This situation shows me once again that I am being treated differently and that the rule of law does not exist."
