Fatih Erbakan and Mustafa Destici meet to discuss elections and the constitution

Fatih Erbakan, accompanied by a delegation including Deputy Chairmen Mehmet Aşıla and Nureddin Gül and Secretary General Mehmet Altınöz, was hosted by Mustafa Destici at the Great Unity Party Headquarters. From the BBP, Deputy Chairmen Ahmet Emin Serin, Fehmi Güner, and Tevfik Eren also attended the meeting.

The meeting, which lasted approximately one hour, was held both to convey condolences for the recent passing of Mustafa Destici's older brother, Halil Nural Destici, and to congratulate him on his re-election as party chairman.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on recent developments in Turkish and global politics, election processes, and potential constitutional amendments.

A MESSAGE OF STRUGGLE FOR THE GUARANTEE OF ALL FREEDOMS

Mustafa Destici thanked Fatih Erbakan and his delegation for their visit and drew attention to the importance of the long-standing cooperation between the two parties. In his speech, Destici stated the following:

"Since the establishment of the Great Unity Party, and even before that during the Nationalist Work Party (MÇP) and Welfare Party era, the 1991 alliance, and all subsequent processes, we have always been in close dialogue with the Milli Görüş community, the Welfare Party, and its successor parties and their chairmen. In this regard, we have taken the late Erbakan Hodja and our martyred leader Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu as our examples. Because they, too, demonstrated a perfect example of cooperation and solidarity in every period when Turkey and the Turkish nation were in need, especially during periods when religious segments were subjected to persecution, such as the February 28 process. We are continuing this example of cooperation and solidarity today as well.

Naturally, in this meeting, we also had the opportunity to exchange views, albeit briefly, on Turkey's political agenda and world politics. The goal of both our parties is, of course, for Turkey, the Turkish nation, the Turkish and Islamic world, and our brothers and kinsmen living in this world to lead a more peaceful, secure, happy, and in every sense free life. In other words, we are struggling for a life where the state is independent and free, individuals are free, and all freedoms, especially freedom of belief, are guaranteed. May the Almighty grant our country and our nation lasting unity. May He not give an opportunity to those who try to disrupt this."

EMPHASIS ON REGIONAL DEVELOPMENTS AND PEACE

Destici also reacted to the ongoing conflicts in the region, primarily the Russia-Ukraine war, and the Israeli attacks in Gaza, saying:

"Of course, there are two wars in our region. While the Russia-Ukraine war may be slowing down, we once again condemn the genocide committed by Israel in Gaza. We also condemn and reject the attacks on Islam, including the recent statements and ugly insults by the former prime minister of the Netherlands. Now, news has been reflected in the press since last night that the US and Iran have reached an agreement. It was announced that the agreement would be signed in Switzerland on June 19. We are pleased with this as well. Of course, we do not want war in our region. We are talking about an unbalanced war, a war where there is no balance of power.

Unfortunately, our geography is losing in this war; our Muslim brothers are losing their lives, they are being persecuted, genocide is being committed against them, and they are being bombed. Therefore, we are certainly very pleased that a ceasefire has been achieved and that an agreement is to be signed. Of course, this should be a lesson to everyone; it should be a lesson to America first and foremost. We think they have now understood that one cannot act according to the words of this terrorist Israel's murderous and genocidal prime minister."

Additionally, Azerbaijan's National Salvation Day and the month of Muharram were celebrated.

ELECTIONS AND CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT ON THE AGENDA

Yeniden Refah Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan, while once again offering his condolences for Mustafa Destici's loss, congratulated the BBP on the grand congress they held. In his statement, Erbakan noted:

"We have held some discussions regarding the date and structure of the upcoming elections, exchanged ideas regarding a possible constitutional amendment, and exchanged views on current political issues. Once again, I congratulate the Great Unity Party on the grand congress they have held. I wish patience to our Chairman and the entire Great Unity Party community from the Almighty, and I convey my condolences."
