Fines introduced for littering in Bolu

Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan took a significant step regarding cleaning practices in the city on July 31. Özcan announced that administrative fines of up to 14,407 Turkish Lira will be imposed on individuals who throw cigarette butts, sunflower seed shells, or trash on the ground, or who spit on the ground.

Following this announcement, municipal police teams quickly took action. The movements of citizens were closely monitored through security cameras at various points in the city. The teams imposed penalties on individuals caught throwing trash and cigarette butts on the ground.

Mayor Tanju Özcan shared the footage recorded during the enforcement operations on his social media account, stating, “Don't say you weren't warned!!! The teams are on the job and we are monitoring with cameras. I said, ‘No one has the right to pollute Turkey’s cleanest city,’ and we are determined to the end to do what is necessary.”
