First meeting in Afyonkarahisar from Burcu Köksal after joining the AKP: 'Under the leadership of our President...'

Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal has resigned from the Republican People's Party (CHP) and transferred to the AKP.

Following the transfer, Köksal held a press conference in front of the municipal building.

Arguing that a new era has begun in the race to serve the city, Köksal said they have embarked on a new journey to respond more quickly to the city's needs and to bring projects to life.

"My dear fellow citizens of Afyonkarahisar. My brave fellow citizens, my fellow citizens who are as tough as the climate and as honest as the people.

As a child of this land who has shared in its troubles, I want to emphasize that my only love, today as it was yesterday, is Afyonkarahisar. We have taken a step into a new era to bring stronger services to our Afyonkarahisar, to resolve pending issues more quickly, to implement the investments our city needs, and to respond more strongly to the demands of my fellow citizens.

God willing, from now on, we will implement many works with the same determination, starting with urban transformation, from infrastructure to transportation, and projects aimed at our youth and women. We will stand by every step that grows, develops, and strengthens our city. As I said yesterday, I will continue to serve my hometown within the Justice and Development Party (AKP) to rebuild our Afyonkarahisar under the leadership of our esteemed President.

When I was in Ankara, I often said and occasionally shared a sentiment. Everyone thinks I am in Ankara, but if a single roof collapses in Afyonkarahisar, my heart breaks; that is how much I am in love with Afyonkarahisar.

And as I have said before, I have always put my hand under the stone for Afyonkarahisar, and I will continue to do so from now on. I will serve together with you all in the Justice and Development Party to bring our Afyonkarahisar to the place it deserves."
