Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ has issued a statement regarding the investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office over his remarks about President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his party's provincial chairmen consultation meeting on January 19.

"The location of the speech is Antalya. The Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is not launching an investigation. Erdoğan and I are in Ankara. The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is not launching an investigation either. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is launching one," said Özdağ, adding, "I am ready to make this speech 1000 more times. Whether you throw me in jail or put me before a firing squad. We will not compromise on Atatürk and the Republic he founded. We will respond to attacks on Atatürk and the Republic."

"I made the speech for which an investigation was launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on the grounds of insulting Erdoğan at the Zafer Party's 4th Provincial Chairmen Workshop in Antalya.
