First statement from Kılıçdaroğlu's administration regarding layoffs
Following the cancellation of the 38th Ordinary Congress due to a ruling of absolute nullity, the termination of numerous employees at the CHP Headquarters has sparked controversy. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's advisor, Atakan Sönmez, stated that the terminations were carried out for administrative reasons and that the decisions would be reviewed.
The wave of layoffs that began at the Republican People's Party (CHP) headquarters following the recent "absolute nullity" ruling continues to remain on the agenda. After Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu returned to the chairman's seat by court order, it was reported that 24 employees were dismissed last week, followed by the termination of other personnel, including journalist Gülümhan Gülten, who served as the CHP General Secretariat Coordinator, and photojournalist Alperen Kaya.
While these developments have sparked debates within the party and among the public, the reasons for the layoffs and the manner in which they were implemented have become a subject of curiosity.
Kılıçdaroğlu's press advisor, Atakan Sönmez, stated in his explanation regarding the layoffs that the terminations could be based on two main reasons.

Sönmez said, "Currently, we have the chance to learn the reasons for the terminations of our friends in two ways. First; if they have engaged in behavior that does not comply with institutional employee discipline, such as swearing at, insulting, or threatening party officials. Second, if there is a determination that they have not gone to work without an excuse or a medical report during this period, while appearing as permanent staff on paper, a termination may be in question for this as well.
How can this ultimately be learned? If a card is supposed to be swiped but hasn't been, or if the card was swiped but they didn't actually go, the employees inside provide this information. We have not been at the headquarters for over 2 years. This is not a determination we can make ourselves.
When you look at the personnel entry-exit system, if there are 300 working days in a year and they haven't come for 285 of them, they are not an active employee. These layoffs will be reviewed again. In general, 'let the employee be fired' cannot be the view of the Republican People's Party. These were done as an administrative measure at the Headquarters; I will examine the reasons for termination regarding the friends in my own units one by one.
If necessary, I will call them in and talk to them. If there is something we are not convinced is a justified termination, we will reverse it and continue the friends' contracts. Since this is not a secret purge, operation, or anything of the sort, there is no situation here that would cause us any trouble. There is no new assignment for my own unit either," he stated.
