Özgür Özel's first statement on the investigation permit granted for Mansur Yavaş: He lashed out at Erdoğan

Continuing his contacts between political parties, CHP leader Özgür Özel visited the Saadet Party Headquarters today as part of his visits conducted with the demand for a "snap election" and met with Chairman Mahmut Arıkan. Following the meeting, the two party leaders held a joint press conference.

Responding to journalists' questions regarding the investigation permit initiated against Mansur Yavaş, Özgür Özel made his first assessment on the matter. In his statement, Özel touched upon the way state resources were used in the 2023 elections and used the following expressions:

"This is a development that occurred while we were inside; our friend responsible for the press just gave me information about the subject a little while ago.

The main debate of the 2023 elections was this. I remember it. Mr. Erdoğan, as a presidential candidate, was going everywhere with the vehicle allocated to him by the state as President, and he was using all the state's resources, using all the state's protocols, holding opening ceremonies, and saying 'I am the President,' without complying with any of the rules that are requirements of democracy, such as not holding official opening ceremonies a certain time before elections, as was applied in the previous parliamentary system, or governors not accompanying him when he went somewhere."

It was noted that in his remarks, Özel described the sensitivity shown regarding Mansur Yavaş's use of a municipal vehicle while going to the Karabük rally as "admirable."

The CHP leader also included the following statements: "Actually, at that moment, he was going to rallies as a presidential candidate, but he was doing these things. The sensitivity of those who did not show sensitivity despite all the warnings on this issue, regarding the fact that a vehicle belonging to the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality was used while going to the Karabük rally, is truly 'admirable.' But when I learn the other details of the matter, what is it and what is not? I will make another assessment."
