First statement from the ruling party following Cemil Tugay's departure from CHP

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay has caused a stir in the political agenda by announcing his resignation from his party. It is stated that Tugay made the decision to resign as a reaction against the new management in the CHP and the appointment of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to the chairmanship with an "absolute nullity" decision.

AK Party Secretary General and İzmir Deputy Eyyüp Kadir İnan, in his assessment regarding Tugay's resignation, claimed that the process of the collapse of CHP municipalism in İzmir has been declared. İnan stated, "It cannot be expected that a name who provided no benefit to this city while wearing the party badge will be a remedy while independent."

Cemil Tugay's departure from the CHP has sparked debates in the city and political circles. In his statement, İnan underlined that Tugay's resignation is not just a personal matter. Emphasizing that the AK Party will stand by İzmir, he said, "The real problem is the 25-year-old decrepit CHP mentality that deems this picture worthy of beautiful İzmir. But no one should fall into despair."

AK Party's İnan's statement also included the following assessments: "İzmir is not ownerless. We are here in İzmir; the AK Party cadres, who consider it an honor to be servants to the nation, are here. We have worked sincerely for İzmir until today, and we will work even harder from now on. We are determined; we will end this period of lack of service and vision together with the people of İzmir at the first opportunity."
