Flash CHP insider news from Fatih Altaylı: Another candidate will emerge on Friday

Journalist Fatih Altaylı has claimed that on Friday, the day CHP Group Chairman Özgür Özel is expected to appear before cameras to announce his candidacy for the leadership of the main opposition party, another development will take place. 

"Another candidate will emerge in the CHP on Friday," said Altaylı, describing this unnamed individual as "a respected, important figure who comes from the CHP tradition, from a family where others have also served as general chairman, and who is very likely to command the respect of the public."

Fatih Altaylı's statement is as follows:

"Another candidate will emerge in the CHP on Friday; they have almost everything ready, all their paperwork, and they will go tomorrow to apply for the general chairmanship. And if you ask me, this person who will apply—I am not saying the name because I am not authorized to—is a respected, important figure who comes from the CHP tradition, from a family where others have also served as general chairman, and who is very likely to command the respect of the public. They have prepared very well. It is not just empty talk; they have drafted doctrines. They have a clear idea of what they want to do and how they will do it... They have a kind of manifesto and their roadmap is clear. Honestly, I liked it very much. I don't know if it will have a social impact. Will the CHP give the green light to this, will the delegates do something like this... But it will make an exciting contribution to the CHP during the convention process. It is a personality we have not personally seen on the political stage until now. I say, let them wait for their candidacy tomorrow as well."

Altaylı's words brought to mind the message from Örsan Kunter Öymen. Öymen had announced that he would hold a press conference at the CHP Headquarters on September 15 and make statements regarding the convention process.
