Following Kılıçdaroğlu's FETÖ remarks, that name is back on the agenda: His advisor was arrested for FETÖ

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was brought to the position of CHP Chairman following the appellate court's "absolute nullity" ruling, said in a speech at the party headquarters, "I apologize for not being able to notice FETÖ agents in time." These words from Kılıçdaroğlu brought his former chief advisor Fatih Gürsul, who was arrested on charges of FETÖ membership after the July 15 coup attempt, back to the agenda.

Following Kılıçdaroğlu's FETÖ remarks, that name is back on the agenda: His advisor was arrested for FETÖ

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was brought to the position of CHP Chairman following the Ankara Regional Court of Justice's "absolute nullity" ruling regarding the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress, returned to the CHP Headquarters after approximately 2.5 years.

Attending the "Public Holiday Greeting" program, Kılıçdaroğlu was welcomed with carnations by party members gathered in front of the party building. Addressing the recent debates in his speech, Kılıçdaroğlu said he would explain what happened in the coming period in detail.

"I APOLOGIZE FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO NOTICE FETÖ AGENTS IN TIME"

Addressing the party members, Kılıçdaroğlu made evaluations regarding the congress process, allegations that money was given to delegates, and operations targeting CHP-run municipalities.

In the notable part of his speech, he used the following expressions:

"I apologize to you for not being able to notice the FETÖ agents who insidiously infiltrated behind our backs in time. I apologize to you for harboring those heedless people who sought help from foreign powers behind closed doors while we spoke of the homeland and the nation."

It was noted that Kılıçdaroğlu did not name anyone in his statements.

FATİH GÜRSUL BACK ON THE AGENDA AFTER THE REMARKS

Following Kılıçdaroğlu's "FETÖ agents" expression, eyes turned to academic Fatih Gürsul, who served as his advisor in the past.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Gürsul had served among CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's chief advisors and was also nominated as a CHP parliamentary candidate for Elazığ in the 2015 general elections.

HE WAS ARRESTED AFTER JULY 15

Gürsul, who was suspended from his faculty position at the university where he worked under the Statutory Decree issued after the July 15, 2016 coup attempt, was later arrested on charges of "being a member of an armed terrorist organization."
