Former president Aldemir reacts to 'Sinan Ateş' case

Former Idealist Hearths President Alaattin Aldemir made statements to TELE1.

Expressing that he finds the indictment prepared regarding the 'Sinan Ateş murder' incomplete, Aldemir said, "What saddens and disturbs me is that the opinion leaders of the nationalist community are also in a state of serious silence. What are you waiting for? Come out, form a platform, and seek justice for this family."

"IT IS IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO SEE THE POLITICAL DIMENSION OF THIS MATTER"

Reminding that those who carried out the attack were protected, Aldemir said, "This indictment is not outside of my expectations. We foresaw that it would be this way. I wish we had been wrong. The presentation of the indictment in this manner has not eased the public conscience. Believe me, there have been nearly 200 attacks. This incident came right before our eyes. The police sometimes intervened, and sometimes they did not. The people who carried out these attacks were protected. There were attacks on journalists, academics, and dissidents. An attempt was made to send a message this way. The message was: 'Be quiet, do not speak, do not oppose.' At the end of the day, Sinan Ateş was murdered in the middle of Ankara. It is impossible not to see that there is a political dimension to this matter."

"SİNAN ATEŞ'S POLITICAL IDENTITY WAS NOT EMPHASIZED"

Drawing attention to the silence of the nationalist community, Aldemir said, "Sinan Ateş's political identity was not specifically emphasized in the indictment. What saddens and disturbs me is that the opinion leaders of the nationalist community are also in a state of serious silence. What are you waiting for? Come out, form a platform, and seek justice for this family. I will not let this matter go. There are others who will not let it go either. But is that enough? It is not enough."
