Former Youth Branch Presidents call on Kılıçdaroğlu against 'trustee' intervention

Internal debates that began in the CHP following the 38th Ordinary Congress on November 4-5, 2023, have entered a critical turning point with the extraordinary congress lawsuit filed by dissident delegates. The case will be heard at the Ankara 42nd Civil Court of First Instance on Monday, June 30, and will shape the political and legal course of the process.

Figures who held active roles in the party before and after the congress have also raised their voices during this critical period. Former CHP Youth Branch Chairmen Barbaros Dinçer, Emre Doğan, Emre Yılmaz, and Gençosman Killik addressed former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in a joint statement.

"JUSTICE WILL NOT COME WITH THIS GOVERNMENT"

In the call they issued, the youth leaders emphasized that the judiciary cannot be independent under the current government, stating, "Fair decisions can only emerge from courts when this government changes and the judiciary becomes independent. To expect justice from the AKP government, one must be either a dreamer or a partisan."

The joint call from the four former CHP Youth Branch Presidents is as follows:

"Our society has shown that the address it trusts for a way out of crises is the CHP"

"Dear Former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu,

The Republican People's Party has been the ancestral home for millions of citizens throughout its deep-rooted history spanning over a century. Every duty in this party is a civic obligation and a means of serving the nation. However, the chairmanship is an honor and a responsibility to be carried for a lifetime.

As the Youth Branch Chairmen who have signed this text and served during your tenure, we are witnesses to the responsibility you demonstrated at certain critical junctures where our country was sought to be cast adrift. At the point we have reached today, the Republican People's Party has become the leading party after 47 years. Our society has shown that the address it trusts for a way out of crises is the CHP.

There is no ship to dock at the shore or to be pulled into the harbor; the journey to power must continue with great determination.

"To expect justice from the AKP government, one must be either a dreamer or a partisan"

You must consider not only the expectations of Republican People's Party members but also those of our entire nation and the momentum our party has gained. The Republican People's Party is the greatest hope and the last bastion of our 86 million citizens for a Turkey where democracy, justice, and prosperity prevail once again, and where young people and women do not fear for the future.

The palace judiciary, which you know very well and against which you carried out the “March for Justice,” one of the greatest actions in our democratic history, cannot have a sincere goal of resolving the alleged illegality within the Republican People's Party.

Our congresses derive their spirit and essence from the Sivas Congress. Throughout history, they have never come under the yoke of imperialism or any other power.

The lawlessness is not in the Republican People's Party congresses, but inside the palaces of justice used to design politics and prevent a change in government. Fair decisions can only emerge from courts when this government changes and the judiciary becomes independent. To expect justice from the AKP government, one must be either a dreamer or a partisan.

"Today is not a day for grievances, but for walking shoulder to shoulder"

In this period when the current system is coming at us in its entirety, arresting our presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was elected with the votes of 15.5 million citizens, as well as young people, our mayors, party administrators, and bureaucrats, history has once again placed a responsibility upon you.

For this reason, we make a call to you as the Youth Branch Chairmen who have worked with you:

The 25 million people who voted for you in the last election, the 2 million CHP members, and all our citizens who believe in democracy have only one expectation from you:

Do not remain silent under any circumstances to the Republican People's Party being designed by the courts, and stand with our party and our Chairman Özgür Özel with all your might. The steel will that will form when you also lend your support will be the end of the AKP government. Today is not a day for grievances, but for walking shoulder to shoulder. Today is not a day for talking about the past, but for paving the way for the future.

We stand at the same place in history with our dozens of comrades waiting for justice inside, our Chairman, our presidential candidate, and our nation that believes in democracy. Come, stand with us against the politics of trustees. Do not forget! The search for justice is a march that has not yet been completed.
