Full support from MHP for Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's statements regarding Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek and the allegations he put forward concerning the minister's assets have caused a major stir in the political arena. MHP Deputy Chairman İzzet Ulvi Yönter, in a post regarding the matter, clearly demonstrated his party's support for the Minister of Justice.

SUPPORT STATEMENT FROM YÖNTER

In a statement on his social media account, İzzet Ulvi Yönter said, "We are with our Minister of Justice, Mr. Akın Gürlek, all the way. The character assassination by the slanderer Özgür Özel will backfire and, in the final analysis, will disgrace him." Yönter's statement was interpreted as the MHP taking a clear stance in the debates surrounding the Minister of Justice.

In his speech on March 17, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel claimed that the total value of the residences, land, and properties sold by Akın Gürlek was approximately 452 million liras, and alleged that he had provided documents to support this information. Özel also stated, "It is not possible to reach this wealth with a first-degree judge's salary; how did Mr. Akın achieve this in 19 years?" The CHP has also filed a criminal complaint regarding Gürlek's asset declaration.

GÜRLEK DENIED THE ALLEGATIONS

Following the debates, Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, in a statement to journalists, described the documents concerning him as "fake and fabricated" and maintained that there are only four properties registered in his name.
