Future Party Leader Davutoğlu speaks in Bursa: "Can you imagine occupation forces entering the Grand Mosque with police dogs?"
Future Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu spoke at his party's Bursa provincial congress. Expressing his support for Palestine, Davutoğlu said, "Can you imagine occupation forces entering the Grand Mosque with police dogs? Think about it and feel what the Palestinians are feeling."
Speaking at his party's regular provincial congress held at a business center in the city, Ahmet Davutoğlu stated that as the Future Party, they have always stood by Palestine against Israel.
Stating that he would not remain silent about the events in Palestine, Davutoğlu said, "This has been going on for months. While this was continuing, the statesmen, Arabs, Arab states, and Islamic countries—including Turkey—who should have stood behind the Palestinians, lined up to normalize relations with Israel. The blood of the Mavi Marmara martyrs was forgotten. They lined up to normalize relations with Israel. They all normalized one by one. The Palestinians felt this way: 'The whole world has abandoned us. Our Arab brothers have abandoned us. Our Muslim brothers have abandoned us.' The Palestinian issue is not an Arab issue. The Palestinian issue is not just a Muslim issue. The Palestinian issue is an issue of humanity."
Emphasizing that he was disturbed by the images circulated on social media, Davutoğlu noted the following:
"Those who criticize me on social media today for 'supporting the Palestinian resistance,' and those who try to cast a shadow on the Palestinian resistance based on certain images that none of us would approve of, do not know what the Palestinian people have suffered for 75 years. I followed the international press, I followed the Turkish press. An atmosphere is being created as if the Palestinians attacked Israel. As if they attacked poor Israelis. Yes, civilians, women, and children must not be touched, but 70 percent of those living in Palestine and Gaza are people who were uprooted and expelled from their lands by Israel in the 1948 and 1967 wars. I stood by them when I was Prime Minister. I stand by them today. And I will stand by them tomorrow.
For months, Israeli soldiers have been entering Al-Aqsa Mosque, which we call the sibling of the Grand Mosque, with their boots, persecuting the Palestinian youth there, and on one occasion, they entered Al-Aqsa Mosque with police dogs. Now, can you imagine occupation forces entering the Grand Mosque with police dogs? Think about it and feel what the Palestinians are feeling. Al-Aqsa Mosque is our qibla."
The congress was attended by provincial party chairs, district chairs, provincial women's branch members, and provincial board members.
