AKP in contact with 3 CHP mayors: Transfers to continue

Following the transfer of deputies, claims have emerged that the AKP is continuing its contacts on the local government front. According to the allegations, the party is holding meetings with numerous metropolitan and district mayors.

Speaking on the Medya Kritik program broadcast on TGRT Haber, journalist Fatih Atik claimed that the AKP is in contact not only with mayors but also with 9 to 10 deputies.

Atik shared behind-the-scenes information on the air regarding the municipalities where negotiations are allegedly underway.

METROPOLITAN AND DISTRICT MUNICIPALITIES ON THE AGENDA

Fatih Atik listed the municipalities the AKP is allegedly in contact with as follows:

“Afyon Metropolitan Municipality, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality… It could also be Izmit. No one has crossed over yet. There was also an operation in Balıkesir Municipality.”

In Atik's statements, it was observed that the names of metropolitan and district municipalities such as Afyonkarahisar, Balıkesir, Bursa, and Izmit came to the fore.

NEGOTIATION PROCESS CONTINUES

According to the behind-the-scenes information conveyed, it was stated that these contacts are not new and that the names of some mayors had come up previously. It was noted that the negotiations have not yet been concluded and that the process is being spread out over time.

Fatih Atik made the following assessment regarding this process:

“These processes do not happen immediately. It was already heard before that negotiations were continuing with them.”

According to the information voiced on the program, it was alleged that the negotiations are not one-sided, that some mayors have requested to join the AKP, and that some figures have been invited by the party.

Regarding the nature of the contacts, Atik used the following expressions:

“Some mayors want to come themselves. The AK Party is extending invitations to some. But this does not happen that quickly.”
