Ankara corridors are buzzing: 'Öcalan' anxiety on the ruling front
As political parties submit their reports to the commission within the scope of the 'Turkey without terrorism' process, the AKP's report on the process is expected to be delivered to the commission next week. Concerns regarding PKK leader Öcalan persist within the ruling party.
While efforts regarding the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process continue, political parties are gradually submitting their prepared reports to the relevant commission. The AKP's process report is expected to come to the commission's agenda next week.
Within the scope of the process, the mention of the "right to hope" for PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan in public and political debates has caused discomfort within the AKP.
According to a report in the Cumhuriyet newspaper, views were expressed during closed-door meetings held among AKP deputies that evaluations regarding Öcalan would not gain votes for the party.
It was stated in the meetings that such rhetoric could, on the contrary, alienate voters.
In party corridors, it is being discussed that the AKP may adopt a more controlled and distant approach as the process continues.
In this context, it is assessed that any rhetoric centering on PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan will not be embraced.
