Another shock for Kılıçdaroğlu: She did not accept the position

The "absolute nullity" ruling issued by the Ankara 36th Regional Court of Justice regarding the Republican People's Party's (CHP) 38th Ordinary Congress, held on November 4-5, 2023, has further intensified the debates within the party.

With the court's decision, it was stated that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was reinstated as the CHP Chairman, and that the party organs from before the congress were also re-authorized.

While developments in the party administration following the ruling have drawn attention, statements have begun to arrive one after another from the individuals reinstated by the court decision.

Gençosman Kilik, who was reinstated as the CHP Youth Branch Chair by the court decision, announced in a statement yesterday that he would not accept the position.

In his statement, Kilik indicated his support for the current Chairman Özgür Özel and declared that he would not accept the appointment made by the court ruling.

Following this development, a statement also came from Aylin Nazlıaka.

“I WILL NOT ACCEPT THE POSITION”

CHP Family and Social Services Policy Board Chair Aylin Nazlıaka announced in a post on her social media account that if a decision were to be made for her to return to the position of CHP Women's Branch Chair by court order, she would not accept it.

In her post, Nazlıaka used the expression, "Today we are experiencing one of the darkest days in our democratic history."

In her statement, Aylin Nazlıaka argued that the "absolute nullity" ruling is a clear indication of an attempt to shape politics through the judiciary.

Stating that the decision is political rather than legal, Nazlıaka included the words, "We do not recognize this ruling, and we will not recognize it."

Nazlıaka further claimed that the ruling in question aims to render the opposition ineffective, stating that this "cannot stop the CHP's march to power."

Reminding that she served as the CHP Women's Branch Chair between 2020 and 2024, Aylin Nazlıaka announced to the public that she would not accept the position if a decision were made for her to return to duty.

Emphasizing equality, freedom, justice, and democracy in her post, Nazlıaka stated that they would not give up on the goal of a secular and democratic Turkey where women live in safety, children look to the future with hope, and the rule of law prevails.
