Bahçeli's 'founding leader of the PKK' remark sparked controversy: Fatih Altaylı to Bahçeli... This jargon is used by PKK members!

The expression "founding leader of the PKK," used by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli for PKK ringleader Abdullah Öcalan, has sparked controversy. Journalist Fatih Altaylı reacted sharply to Bahçeli's words and made notable statements.

Regarding Bahçeli's statements, Altaylı said, "It is very strange for him to call someone who has been bleeding Turkey dry for 40 years the 'founding leader of the PKK.' This jargon is used by PKK members."

Stating that Bahçeli's words caused astonishment, Altaylı expressed his reaction by saying, "He has almost reached the point of saying 'Biji Serok Apo' (Long live Leader Apo). If I had said these words, I would have been inside long ago."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

A new resolution process began with MHP Leader Devlet Bahçeli's call regarding Öcalan. In his speech at his party's group meeting, Devlet Bahçeli had said, "Let Öcalan come to the TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Turkey) and announce that he has dissolved the PKK. As a result, let him benefit from the right to hope."

Following Bahçeli's call, the government side and the DEM Party supported Bahçeli. After these developments, a DEM Party delegation established dialogue first with PKK ringleader Öcalan and then with the Kurdistan Regional Government in Northern Iraq.

Following the meetings, the DEM Party delegation also visited political parties and provided information about the process. Finally, after the second visit to Imralı, a written statement came from PKK ringleader Öcalan.

Terrorist ringleader Öcalan had called on the PKK to lay down its arms. Following Öcalan's call, a statement from the terrorist organization PKK was not delayed. In a written statement, Kandil said that they would not carry out any attacks unless there was an attack against them.

Following the terrorist organization's 'ceasefire' statement, a response came from Bahçeli, the main actor of the process. In a statement on his social media account, Bahçeli stated that he found the organization's ceasefire call inappropriate and noted the following:

The armed and commissioned conflicts that broke out in Syria, particularly in the cities of Latakia and Tartus, starting from March 6, 2025, and subsequently spreading to the cities of Hama, Homs, and Daraa, are at a level and quality that threaten the internal security and peace environment of our country as much as the peace and stability of neighboring geographies.

Ethnic and sectarian-based confrontations, for which there is not the slightest doubt that they are controlled from the outside, have unfortunately gained operability and momentum for nightmare scenarios. The regional and global hostility mechanism, which resists Syria's rebirth from its ashes and aims to prevent such an effective rectification, has embarked on chaos manufacturing through its subcontractors.

Even though the waters have relatively calmed down in Syria and the internal bleeding has been brought under control, it is too early to say that the crisis environment in the form of an undertow has subsided. A primitive and disgusting plot that scratches and probes sectarian conflict, and aims to set Syria on fire and corner regional countries through this method, is visibly making progress. The dark picture, in which Ba'ath remnants act as puppets, foreign intelligence agencies are active, and Zionist barbarism is in play, is there with all its gravity.

In this context, the Republican People's Party (CHP) acting like a hitman for the Ba'ath mentality and attempting an exploitation campaign through our Alevi brothers is a new derivative of its sick and hostile politics. The CHP's sectarian provocation is the most serious evil that can be done not only to Turkey but also to Islamic societies, regional balances, and dynamics in these blessed days. The CHP positioning itself like a remnant and extension of the Ba'ath is a very dangerous fracture and break.

Our Alevi brothers are our life and our heart; they are inseparable, indivisible, and indistinguishable faith and human values of our nation and the Islamic world. In our view, those who dig a chasm between Alevi and Sunni, those who create duality between them, and furthermore, those who present them as distant and foreign to each other are enemies of religion, faith, nation, and the Ummah. Neither our Alevi brothers nor our Sunni brothers will be deceived by deadly games, and they will never fall for them. The CHP's path is not the right path. The statements of CHP executives and deputies cannot be interpreted as anything other than paving the way for and leading to sedition and corruption.

Those who pursue political sectarianism and ethnic discrimination are both committing a crime against humanity and are partners in intentions and actions that are contrary to the law and the constitution.

It is beneficial for the DEM Party to clarify its stance and attitude in the face of these developments. In their contacts with the CHP or other parties, will they talk about the February 27 Imralı call, or will they listen to and become partners in the fake and fossilized clichés of parties that are in the search for steps that destroy ethnic and sectarian sensitivities? Will they fulfill the requirements of the "Call for Peace and Democratic Society" prepared by the founding leader of the PKK, or will they mediate for rotten political mentalities that project Turkey falling into internal turmoil and chaos under the pretext of Syria? It is an urgent and vital need for the DEM Party to crystallize its decision in this framework.

While Turkey is on the eve of permanently and categorically removing terrorism from the life of the nation and the state, neither God will forgive nor the noble Turkish nation will tolerate opportunistic, fickle, and thoughtless politicians who use ethnic and sectarian provocations as political tools and arguments.

The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) is concerned about the cultivation of other and more terrifying emerging problems while a struggle for liberation from one trouble is being waged, and invites everyone, especially political parties, to be moral, sensitive, national, and responsible.

Let it not be forgotten that the gasoline poured on the fire will burn the one who pours it first; whoever hopes for help from the wind will have their roof blown off first.
