CHP convention scenario becomes clearer: Excuse ready in Kılıçdaroğlu camp

With the May 21 "absolute nullity" ruling by the Ankara Regional Court of Justice 36th Civil Chamber, the powers of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and the party administration were terminated, and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was reinstated as CHP Chairman.

Names close to Özel had claimed that the phrase "most appropriate time" used by Kılıçdaroğlu pointed to an indefinite process and that he aimed to lead the party into elections under his own administration.

In the assessment made by the Kılıçdaroğlu team, the view was expressed that "a convention cannot be held until the appeal at the Court of Cassation is concluded."

According to the assessments in the report, legal circles point out that the conclusion time for similar files at the Court of Cassation could extend up to two years.

It was stated that the Özel administration argues that if an election is held during this process, the ruling party would gain an advantage.

A member of the CHP Party Assembly close to Kılıçdaroğlu also argued that an extraordinary situation is being experienced within the party, suggesting that the authority of the chairmanship could be used differently under current conditions.

The person in question used the expressions, "Even if the Party Assembly falls below 40 members, even if it falls to one person, the chairman can manage the party. Because there is an extraordinary situation. The Chairman continues his duty until the Court of Cassation decision is finalized."
