Draft being prepared ahead of reconciliation commission: Will PKK terrorists be prosecuted?

As part of the second reconciliation process launched by the government under the name "Terror-Free Turkey, the commission to be established in the TBMM will begin its work next week. 

The main agenda of this commission will be to define the legal status of members of the terrorist organization who have laid down their arms.

An important step will be taken in the reconciliation process that began with the call of MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli. For the first time in the Turkish legal system, preparations for a "Disarmament Law" draft will begin. The commission will work intensively to determine the regulations that will apply if the terrorist organization PKK lays down its arms.

DISARMAMENT LAW DRAFT BEING PREPARED

According to a report by Yücel Kayaoğlu from Türkiye newspaper, the draft law to be prepared by the Terror-Free Turkey commission will regulate the legal status of organization members who lay down their arms.

Additionally, in the event that the PKK lays down its arms, the terror organization leader Abdullah Öcalan is also on the agenda for talks. A delegation will be formed from the commission members for this purpose.

AKP sources, stating that current legislation does not contain any regulations regarding the status of organization members who lay down their arms, noted that "the effective remorse regulation does not cover this situation. Therefore, a separate law is needed. will be issued. TERROR CHARGES WILL BE DROPPED

Under the new legal regulation, when a member of a terrorist organization lays down their arms, provided this is verified, ongoing trials, investigations, or prosecutions against this individual will be terminated. The charge of membership in a terrorist organization will be dropped, and the individual will not be sentenced for this. However, even if these individuals have laid down their arms, they may still be sentenced for other crimes they committed due to their membership in the terrorist organization (such as murder).
