Explosive behind-the-scenes report from Ankara: AKP is seeking a new alliance! Are they parting ways with MHP?
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's absence from the October 29 Republic Day reception has brought the tension between the MHP and the AKP back to the agenda. Journalist Nuray Babacan wrote about the developments behind the scenes and the AKP's search for a new alliance.
The MHP's failure to send a representative to the October 29 Republic Day reception has caused the ongoing tension between the MHP and the AKP to resurface.
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli assigned his staff to Anıtkabir instead of attending himself. This stance has led to questions about whether a "political distance" is being established.
FACTORS INCREASING TENSION FROM TRNC ELECTIONS TO THE IMRALI PROCESS
Behind the scenes, it is stated that the roots of the tension within the People's Alliance date back to the TRNC elections. Among the primary factors causing the tension to persist after Bahçeli's absence at Anıtkabir are the investigations launched into the CHP, appointments made within the police force, and the positions of certain figures such as Kenan Tekdağ.
“MORE LIKE A HURT FEELING THAN A CRISIS”
Journalist Nuray Babacan shared her impressions from behind the scenes in Nefes newspaper regarding whether the reception crisis is a sign of a new political rupture. Babacan noted that MHP Chairman Bahçeli's failure to attend the Republic Day celebrations was a remarkable situation.
Babacan stated that this situation appears more like a hurt feeling than a crisis. Furthermore, she argued that Bahçeli's attitude has led to assessments regarding the relationship between the AKP and the MHP, and that, on this basis, the bilateral relations have not been severed.
SEARCH FOR A NEW ALLIANCE FOR THE AKP
Babacan stated that questions such as "What are the MHP members saying?" have increased in AKP circles regarding this tension with the MHP. She also emphasized that, in addition to focusing on Bahçeli's attitude, there is a strong conviction that "there is no preparation within the state regarding the opening process."
Furthermore, Babacan reported that views are spreading behind the scenes that the AKP is in search of new alliances. Claims that the AKP is re-evaluating its relationship with the MHP and seeking new alliances could further deepen the tension.
Babacan wrote that some figures within the AKP believe there is no concrete preparation within the state regarding the Imralı Process. This uncertainty is also being evaluated as a development parallel to the AKP's search for new alliances.
