Farewell to Ferdi Zeyrek! His wife could not hold back her tears: 'His heart is with me'

The death of Manisa Metropolitan Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, who was electrocuted at his home and had been receiving treatment in intensive care, plunged both the people of Manisa and his loved ones into mourning. 

A memorial ceremony was held in front of Manisa Municipality for Zeyrek, who died at the age of 48.

Nurcan Zeyrek, the wife of Ferdi Zeyrek, spoke at the ceremony attended by crowds of Manisa residents and broke down in tears.

Nurten Zeyrek, who said she had known her husband since the age of 16, asked the people of Manisa for their blessing.

'HE WAS A MAN OF FAITH'

Zeyrek said: 

"He was in love with Manisa, he loved all of you very much. He was a man of great faith. Since the age of 16, our hands never parted. He always used to tell me, 'Nurcan, stand tall, we have 3 children.' I gave him my word today; I will always stand tall. His heart is with me. I ask for your blessing. Because he was a man of great faith. Do you give your blessing? I have 3 children; I will keep my word. May God bless all of you."
