Fatih Erbakan signals a 'new alliance'! He even named the party
Yeniden Refah Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan made statements regarding the agenda on Ekol TV, sharing developments within the party and his future strategies. Stating that preparations for the congress are ongoing, Erbakan said that their membership numbers have reached 650 thousand and their goal is to reach 1 million members. Emphasizing that they have ended their relationship with the People's Alliance, Erbakan also pointed to the possibility of an alliance with the Felicity Party (Saadet Partisi).
Yeniden Refah Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan made evaluations regarding the agenda on Ekol TV.
Stating that congress preparations are continuing, Erbakan said, "Naturally, as the Yeniden Refah Party, we are preparing for our 3rd Ordinary Grand Congress with great speed. Our provincial congresses are currently ongoing. Every weekend, we are holding our provincial congresses in 4 or 3 provinces in particular. Our district congresses are also continuing on the other hand."
Reporting that their membership numbers have reached 650 thousand, Erbakan continued as follows:
We are working diligently as if an election will be held this Sunday at any moment, with the goal of reaching 1 million members within this year.
Our membership number has currently reached 650 thousand. There was a very serious demand, especially during the election period. Before the March 31 elections. Last year, in 2024, we increased our membership number by 257 thousand.
The membership increase of all other parties, including the AK Party, remained at the 210 thousand level. In other words, we achieved a higher number of member increases than the total member increase of all other parties, and we became the champion of growth.
We are also continuing diligently, of course, so that we can make a leap forward and reach 1 million.
In other words, to gain 1 million members, you are perhaps coming into contact with 10 million people. You explain your party to them. This leads to serious promotion and propaganda.
DOORS CLOSED TO THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE
Underlining that they will definitely not stand side-by-side with the People's Alliance, Erbakan said, "We are currently on the opposition side. Especially in the March 31 local elections, by fielding our own separate candidates in metropolitan cities, we effectively acted against the People's Alliance and took a place outside of it. Therefore, we are currently in the opposition, but there is no other alliance or bloc left. We are continuing on our path independently. One thing we can say for certain is that we will not come together with the People's Alliance. The nation also wants this from us. They emphasize this especially in the places we visit. We are stating with emphasis that there will be no togetherness again."
Erbakan continued his words as follows:
We are candidates ourselves. We will work to win ourselves. We will seek the support of the nation so that we ourselves can become President.
We have also expressed our presidential candidacy. Because we withdrew in favor of Mr. Erdoğan once in the presidential candidacy, we think that doing such a thing once more—even if it is not for Mr. Erdoğan, but saying we are withdrawing in favor of another candidate, such as Mr. Mansur Yavaş—would no longer be the right behavior politically.
We also think it would not be the right behavior logically. Parties are founded to be in power, to govern the country; they are founded with a claim and possess a claim.
A sacrifice was made once due to the conditions of that period. But we are expressing in particular that such a thing will not happen again."
SIGNAL OF ALLIANCE WITH THE FELICITY PARTY
Regarding the possibility of an alliance with the Felicity Party (Saadet Partisi), Erbakan replied, "We are conducting politics on the same plane and on the same line on many issues, both in domestic politics, foreign policy, and regarding the criticisms we level at the government. Our roots already come from the same place, they are nourished by the same source. They are nourished by the National View (Millî Görüş) Movement. Therefore, there could be a possibility of togetherness or cooperation in the form of an alliance in the upcoming elections with the Felicity Party."
Regarding the alliance that the Felicity Party formed in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey under the name of the New Path Party (Yeni Yol Partisi) with the DEVA Party and the Future Party (Gelecek Partisi), Erbakan evaluated, "They could also be included in the process. The Democrat Party and the Great Unity Party (Büyük Birlik Partisi) could be included. I am not saying this because a study is being done or a meeting is being held regarding this, but I am saying it as an example. The sensitive issue here is that the electorate is pleased with the coming together of parties that define themselves as right-wing parties, and the voter base that we appeal to and from which we can receive votes shows more favor if such a togetherness occurs. A synergy is born from such a togetherness."
