First poll results released following early election calls: Who is leading between Yavaş and İmamoğlu?

ASAL Research has shared the results of its 6-month study regarding potential CHP presidential candidates. In the survey, participants were asked, "Who do you think should be the CHP's presidential candidate?"

According to the results, Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş ranked first with 35.8 percent of the vote. Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu came in second with 22.7 percent.

While CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's vote share was measured at 6.5 percent, the rate of those saying "Someone else" was 4.4 percent, and those saying "None" was determined to be 4.3 percent. 26.3 percent of participants stated they have no opinion or do not wish to answer.

ASAL Research poll results are as follows:

Mansur Yavaş: 35.8%

Ekrem İmamoğlu: 22.7%

Özgür Özel: 6.5%

Someone else: 4.4%

None: 4.3%

No opinion/No answer: 26.3%

ÖZEL: ALL CHP MEMBERS WILL DETERMINE THE CANDIDATE

Özgür Özel, chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP), which emerged as the leading party in the March 31 Local Elections, had previously announced that he would not be a candidate for the presidency.

However, as discussions regarding the candidate selection process continue within the party, Özel stated the following during his party's group meeting yesterday:

"We held a series of meetings in Istanbul. We spoke with Mayor Ekrem and Mayor Mansur. We are now in agreement on a new era. I thank the two names I mentioned a moment ago for saying, 'If my party wishes, if the duty is assigned.' We are now making a new call. It will not be me, but all of us, all CHP members, who will determine the candidate. Everyone registered with the party will determine the candidate."

While these statements reveal that a new roadmap has been set for the process of determining the presidential candidate within the CHP, the strategy the party will follow for the presidential elections following its local election success has become a subject of curiosity.

Özgür Özel recently called on President Erdoğan for an early election and used the following expressions:

"The Republican People's Party is heading to power. November 2025 is the date we have called upon Mr. Erdoğan."
