Harsh words on CHP's day of mourning: Insult from AKP's Varank to İmamoğlu

CHP's young mayor Ferdi Zeyrek died at the age of 48 as a result of an unfortunate accident. 

As condolence messages came one after another from all parties, a large crowd in Zeyrek's hometown of Manisa laid him to rest. 

Ekrem İmamoğlu, CHP's jailed presidential candidate and president of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye, had also applied to the Ministry of Justice to attend the funeral, but the application was rejected.

İmamoğlu's wife, Dilek İmamoğlu, went to Manisa and did not leave the Zeyrek family alone on their painful day. 

'DISHONORABLE'

On CHP's day of grief, AKP Bursa MP Mustafa Varank targeted Ekrem İmamoğlu. 

Quoting a post by the pro-government account named ‘gdh’ that said "Ali Nuhoğlu confessed everything, was released under effective remorse provisions", Varank insulted İmamoğlu:

"Someone who has payments issued from İSKİ and gets himself a villa bought is not a mayor, but a dishonorable man…"

'ILLOGICAL'

According to the video cited by AKP’s Varank, businessperson Ali Nuhoğlu, who became a confessor, gave Ekrem İmamoğlu villas worth 1.5 billion Turkish liras in order to collect a 500 million lira receivable.

The widely debated claim was described as 'illogical'.

SEIZED COMPANY HAD WON TENDERS DURING AKP PERIOD

It had emerged that Trend İnşaat, owned by Ali Nuhoğlu and seized as part of the İBB investigation, had won tenders during the AKP period.

It was determined that the company had won a 10.1 million TL tender from İBB during the AKP period and made a 147.6 million TL agreement with the General Directorate of Highways.
