As part of the 9th wave operation centered on the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) today, a large number of social media account administrators were also detained. The operation specifically targeted accounts close to the CHP and social media managers who made posts supporting the party.

A notable name among those detained is the administrator of the social media account named EkremEdit. This account had frequently been targeted by former CHP chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and his supporters. Kılıçdaroğlu had stated that the social media account that caused him to abandon his decision to withdraw at the November 2023 congress was EkremEdit.

ACCESS BLOCKED

The EkremEdit account was blocked from access in Turkey following the detention of İmamoğlu. The detention order regarding the account's administrator came after these developments.

ACCOUNTS SUPPORTING THE CHP ARE ALSO TARGETED

Within the scope of the same operation, the administrators of other social media accounts supporting the CHP were also detained.

Mustafa Sezer Yerli, the owner of one of these accounts, "Gençliğimiz Var" (We Have Youth), was also among those detained. Additionally, Alican Ayvataş and Utku Doğruyol were detained on the grounds of their social media posts.

EMRAH BAĞDATLI'S SISTER IS ALSO IN DETENTION

Within the scope of the operation, another notable name besides the social media account administrators was Özge Bağdatlı, the sister of Emrah Bağdatlı. Özge Bağdatlı, who had been detained previously, was released under judicial control. However, she was detained again this morning.
