He was the one who gave orders to hitmen... Allegation of a letter from a Hezbollah member to President Erdoğan: How was he transferred to an open prison?

It has been claimed that the prison status of Abdullah Önen, who received an aggravated life sentence for managing the assassination unit of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in Batman, has been changed.

Önen has applied to the Constitutional Court (AYM) three times to date; all of his applications were rejected on the grounds that his "right to a fair trial was not violated."

RETRIAL REQUESTS ALSO REJECTED

Following the Constitutional Court's decisions, Abdullah Önen applied to the court where he was tried 7 times, requesting a retrial and a stay of execution. However, all of these applications were also rejected by the court.

LETTER TO BEŞTEPE, TRANSFER TO OPEN PRISON

According to a report by Sözcü newspaper, after all legal avenues were closed, Önen this time wrote a letter to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan requesting assistance. It is alleged that after this letter, his status in prison was changed.

Önen, whose release was planned for 2033, was transferred from a high-security prison to an open prison. With his transfer to an open prison, the path to early release has been opened, provided he attains the status of a "well-behaved" convict.

THE ASSASSIN WHO GAVE ORDERS TO HITMEN

Abdullah Önen was accused of managing the assassination unit of the Hezbollah cell operating in Batman in the 1990s. According to the allegations, he was directly responsible for actions such as:

The murder of two people,

The wounding of five teachers,

Planning attacks with cleavers and clubs,

Organizing weapons and hitmen.

Findings in the case file also included that he would ride a bicycle to avoid police attention, point out targets to hitmen from a distance, and personally deliver the pistols used in the executions to the hitmen.
