According to a report on the Aydın Denge website, a politician who switched to the AKP targeted Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel by saying, "The state is behind me, I hold the power of the government."

It is alleged that Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu, along with figures close to her, made plans regarding Ömer Günel.

The report claims that Özlem Çerçioğlu, along with Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Ertuğrul Yamen and Ozan, who is influential within the municipality, Çavuşoğlu, aimed to pressure businesspeople by calling them.It was alleged that this was their intention.

Çerçioğlu's goal was to convince businesspeople to fabricate slanders against Ömer Günel. According to the allegations, Çerçioğlu's objective was to ensure Günel's detention and arrest.
